 Angela Acord--Buyer's & Seller's Agent
Angie tells her story: "I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. My father was a steelworker, who began investing in real estate when he was 22 years old. My mother was the head teller at a local bank, and a homemaker. During the late 1970's, my father took a friend's advice and obtained a real estate license. He immediately, and consistently, earned the highest awards each year for his success in real estate sales, and served on the Cleveland Area Board Of Realtors. He holds all of the professional designations for real estate, and is a broker in the Cleveland area.
I graduated high school in 1985. I received my training in real estate at Cleveland State University, after having attended Cuyahoga Community College. I was also a singer/songwriter/guitar-player at college campus clubs, and performed as a singer on recordings for regionally-known artists, as well as recorded my own songs. My songs have been heard on college and alternative radio stations. I like "American Roots" music; blues, gospel, jazz, folk, and still play and sing for fun..
I bought my first house when I was 22 years old (a duplex). Shortly after, I obtained a real estate license. I worked extensively with first time home buyers, as well as senior home sellers who were downsizing, from 1989-1993. I was a stay-at-home mom from 1994-1997. I re-entered real estate sales in 1997.
In 2000, I decided to try something new, so I obtained a property and casualty insurance license. I went to work for a large national insurance company. After almost 3 years in the insurance industry, I decided to take a year off to do as I pleased......yoga, meditation, music, travel, theater, nature, and self-discovery. I fell in love with the natural beauty of Lake County from the very first time I visited.
I moved to Lake County in July, 2004. I began working at Best Image Marketing, providing advertorial newspaper columns for real estate agents nationwide. Working with real estate professionals only made me understand that working for buyers and sellers is what I really want to do.
For 2007, Angela is in the top 10 realtors in Lake County for numbers of properties sold

Mark Travis
Realtor, Buyer's Agent, Seller's Agent, Subdivision Specialist
Originally from Southern California, Mark originally moved to Lake County in 1978. After a few years working in Lakeport and the surrounding area, a job opportunity drew him to Hawaii. Within a relatively short time, Mark was managing film location security, and eventually became the number one choice for such production companies as Disney, Universal and Amblin Studios.
In 1997, after a successful career in the motion picture industry, Mark was offered a position in real estate by a major land developer in Hawaii, where he set new records in sales for his agency and assisted clients by introducing leading edge technologies to assist in acquiring, analyzing and marketing real property.
Mark showed a special ability to locate, negotiate and close prime development properties, a number of which were not even offered for sale at the time. In addition to his duties as a Real Estate Agent, he was retained as a consultant by Hawaii’s largest land development, legal and engineering firms to assist in assessing entitlements, restrictions and opportunities for properties as large as 22,000 acres. "In the course of that work, I’ve studied and found discrepancies in 50 page legal contracts, but I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and tromp through the woods to discover the best and worst features of a property - I enjoy the outdoors!"
And now, with 10 years of real estate experience, Mark has returned to Lake County and brings those same skills to Timothy Toye & Associates. "I’m proud to be a part of the leading real estate Team in Lake County," he says. "Every one here has a unique orientation to serving their clients, putting their needs before their own as a practice. Everyone brings a high level of skill and professionalism to the practice or real estate, and all are ready to go out of their way to help our clients realize their goals. "
Born to a Native American Indian father, Mark has a natural relationship to land and the environment. He stays current with environmentally sound development technologies, Green Building techniques, and creative homebuilding solutions such as Co-Housing.
Besides real estate, Mark enjoys arts as diverse as gold-smithing and Oriental brush painting, as well as playing guitar and music with his 15 year old son and friends.
With a keen, practiced eye for detail, you’ll want Mark on your side.

Tax Considerations >Not at ARMs Length
A sale of a house is just a sale, right? Not necessarily. If you are selling your house to your children or transferring title outside the open market, then the transaction may be characterized as "not at arm's length". Since such a transfer may have tax consequences, you should discuss it with a tax attorney or accountant before taking action.
The transfer of title to a son or daughter may cause the parents to lose favorable property tax treatment, require the payment of state gift taxes, or have other unexpected consequences. From a capital gains point of view, it may be more prudent for children to inherit property than to receive it as a gift. The disposition of any real estate should be considered within the entire framework of your tax and estate planning.
